Skylar was founded by Cat Chen whose mission was to create a clean, hypoallergenic fragrance brand that's free of toxic chemicals.

The Scent Club monthly website updates reflect the story and inspiration behind each fragrance.

The Scent Club

Skylar's Scent Club is a monthly service that delivers a new, limited-edition fragrance to your door every month. The service launched in May 2019 with its first monthly fragrance, Magic Bloom. The launch called for new photography centered around the fragrance of-the-month, and site updates that reflect the new scent. Several assets had to be created to tell the story and inspiration behind the featured scent, across all digital channels, including social media.

The Skylar Scent Club was a collaboration between a team of creatives under the direction of Midori Sakano. The Skylar site brings together photography, illustration, and animation to tell the distinctive story behind each fragrance, the inspiration behind them, and the ingredients included.

The Sample Palette

The Skylar sampling program consisted of a miniature set of the Skylar core fragrances, plus a twenty dollar credit to use towards the purchase of a full-size bottle. The art direction included a custom landing page explaining how the trial program works as simply and stylistically as possible. Additional assets included home page features, an extensive email campaign, ads, and social media highlights.

The Day-to-day

Weekly newsletters and email campaigns were an essential aspect of staying in touch with the Skylar audience. At times, pushing the product wasn't always the case when it came to email marketing. In keeping with the brand's mission of female empowerment, some emails featured strong, inspirational women along with their stories.
